Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com

Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com

I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, RSS, MP3s, photos, stock charts and more.

Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.

Rokario Software - Free Bandwidth Monitor

Rokario Software - Free Bandwidth Monitor
Continuing on the the theme of bandwidth issues I've been using this monitor from Rokario Software to keep a check on my bandwidth usage. It is a very cool little application that stays mostly in the system tray unless you want to watch the various amounts monitored like kb/sec incoming, kb/sec outgoing, traffic(transfer) this hour, (amount)downloaded today, uploaded today and traffic this month. You also get a daily log to see your past usage and compare data.

I've been determined to keep track of these issues since my run-in with the Broadband Rip-Offs that I mentioned in my last post!

The really cool thing, after all the different things you can monitor is the fact that you can use many different "looks" for the application and not only that, you also have the ability to create your own "look" and not just use it, but upload it to their website and let others use it too. Now, I know we all are not interested in going that far, but if you are it's very tempting and makes the whole application even more desirable.

Like I said I've been using this tool for a while now and have found it to be very informing, especially when I'm still having issues with connection speed and making sure I do not exceed any limits for any month. When you look at all the features and benefits you get from using this application and the fact that you can get it for FREE!! just make it a really valuable asset to my toolbox.

Rokario.com do offer a Pro Version of Bandwidth Monitor 2 for $15.98 which has about 9 more options available, but if you are just looking for a personal application then go for the FREE Version.

When Unlimited does not mean Unlimited

You may think this makes no sense and to most of the people that grew up learning English when I did (some time ago) this will not by any definition make sense. But when you are looking to find a ISP (Internet Service Provider) then the rules have been changed for the better, better that is for the ISP.

You see, there is this thing about ISPs that most people don't get to find out unless they are a "power user" or someone that is connected say for 18 of the 24 hours of the day and maybe they are the kinds of users which like to download loads of content from the online content providers.

You may not be aware that there could be anything worth downloading other than a few desktop wallpapers or tunes for your playlist. That's all the better for the ISPs because they are looking to become your Service Provider and you will be the "IDEAL" user for their services.

There are so many commercials, adverts, posters, etc. that are advertising to these "low bandwidth" users - Unlimited Broadband for a ridiculously low price and they are making out like bandits, charging for an unlimited service that you could not possibly use all that is offered if you tried, even if you really, really tried! Look at it from their point of view:

We provide a service that most users will never be able to push to the "limit", oh there is a limit! So we can confidently propose to those users the fallacy of "unlimited" because they don't have enough Free Time to be able to use even a small insignificant part of the bandwidth which we provide, so they will never find out that there is actually a "LIMIT" and most do not ever consider the case.

Now, take a different scenario and look at this "Unlimited Broadband" con.

The main householder, "user 1", spends all day, roughly 10-12 hours actually connected to the internet and is not only downloading but also uploading content to the Internet on one or more websites.

There is another user in the household, "user 2", and they are at university but do all of their coursework and research for their course at home because they are disabled and find it more to their liking to do it all from home instead of traveling to and from campus everyday or living away with a full time carer. This user is also using the same connection through a wireless router and is online roughly 8-12 hours a day and downloading as well as uploading throughout the day everyday.

Then we have our next user in the household, "user 3", who just likes to listen to the online-radio stations and they easily listen to this all day long for roughly 8-10 hours a day.
So far we have three users pushing the "Limit" of the "Unlimited Broadband" but wait, we have a couple more users to add to make this even more complex.

The next two users work a job outside the home, "user 4" and "user 5", are online chatting with friends, downloading pics, downloading ebooks, downloading music to put on phones and portable devices, etc. These users are the only ones that the service was envisioned for:

the crowd - the ones that are out most of the day and when they do get home, only have a few hours to get online and use the "unlimited" broadband they got for such a good deal!

But one day the householder receives a letter from the ISP regarding their usage of the service and is told in no uncertain terms that their usage is in contradiction of the terms of the agreement and a clause has been broken in the contract and to remedy this they can pay for "unlimited broadband" and of course the householder agrees because otherwise there would be a disconnection.

The next month brings the next letter from the ISP, again the terms of the contract seem to still be in contradiction with the user's use, but this time the ISP is giving no more warnings and gives notice of termination of the service forthwith. Of course the users are all up in arms about how this could happen and a call goes to the ISP to query the termination. The ISP is not interested this time and quotes the clause of the contract that has been broken and is immovable on the decision.

The terms of the disconnection are such that it will take about 12 days to disconnect the line and there are no other ISPs able to give the user a broadband line, either unlimited or not because the first ISP has not actually disconnected the service yet, so the user has to wait until the disconnection is complete before they can carry on their daily activities and so too do the other users in the household have to wait.

Well, 18 days later and there are no signs of being disconnected so the user phones the ISP and enquirers about the length of time till disconnection and the ISP has no idea but that the order has been sent through to the appropriate department and it shouldn't take much more than a couple more days.

In the meantime the user sets up a new account with a new ISP after phoning all the other ISPs and enquiring as to their "unlimited broadband" accounts, which turn out to be the same as or close to the first ISP as far as actual usage of the account.

Finally coming to a relatively new ISP with accounts designed for “Power Users” and of course there are “limits” to the account, but the limits this time are far superior to the other ISPs and they are not afraid to tell prospective users the limitations of the service upfront and letting them decide if it fills their needs.

Happy days! They can finally get back to some sort of normality without being disrupted by threats of disconnection or actually being disconnected because they broke one of the terms of the contract, which when searching for the said clause in the original contract, was never found to be included! Make up your own mind.

As this all was taking place, a well known and trusted investigative programme on TV actually did an investigation into the very same question of "Unlimited Broadband" and found that while these ISPs touting the "unlimited" banner were actually misleading users into believing they would have free reign to use as much of the service as they could possibly use. The only thing that was keeping them out of court for false advertising was the fact that most people do not know the difference between "unlimited downloads" and "unlimited connection" and it is this unlimited connection that they are selling in their packages.

One more definition that pertains to all this is the "Fair Usage Policy" which turns out to be something along the lines that; as long as you are not using too much of the service during peak times then all is well and good, but if you are exceeding this usage then you're in trouble!

So at the end of the day, when you have a large household and you think you're getting a really good package from an ISP who quotes "Unlimited Broadband" make sure that you are not going to be exceeding their Fair Usage Policy or their limits for how many Gigabytes a month Downloading and Uploading otherwise known as “transfer amount” you are actually able to use within limits, or was that unlimits!

You decide, but make sure you don't make the wrong choice, You Have Been Warned!

"Gary Halbert has left the building"

If you sell anything and you write sales letters, this will prove to be sad news for you!
I've been receiving emails telling me the bad news, I had to go to the only source which I felt I could trust-John Carlton and found like so many others, that the great copywriting and direct sales genius GARY HALBERT has died.
Many copywriters have learned their craft from Gary because he shared so much of what he knew that "actually works" with the world of copywriters and direct sales people, that's just the kind of person he was.
If you are just getting started and looking for some really, really great copywriting, marketing, direct sales advice then go to Gary Halbert's website and read, read, read!
I don't know how long his family will leave the website intact for us to gather his "nuggets of pure gold information", but suggest to you to get over there NOW!
Just go to the archives of his newsletter and you will be blown away by the genius that was Gary Halbert.
I never got to meet Gary personally, but he has helped me to understand more about writing sales letters than any other person I've chosen to listen to for my education.

Gary, you are a diamond, maybe rough around the edges, but no one would ask for anything different, just be gentle with those angels, won't you?
We will all miss you, but will always remember you.

NOW FREE - Video On Your Blog

I just found this by accident and all I can say is THANKX!
You can now add free video to your blog in the same way
as adding Adsense code or some other widget.
Now, that all sounds a little bit like WORK, I know, but it
is no more work than going into your template of your blog
and replacing a tiny bit of code () with another
little bit bigger bit of code.
Then you have video added to your posts every time you
make a post. The little icon resides at the end of each one
of your posts and will (hopefully) be related to the subject
of your post.
How cool is that?
I am now in the process of adding it to my other blogs and
will be trying it out in my BigDaddyFriends and BizPreneur
accounts.

You should know by now that Video is the new BIG THING
on the Web and "Everyone" who makes a living online should
be embracing this technology now and getting it working for
their business.

How to customize your Private Label Content - PLR101

How to customize your Private Label Content - PLR101

Private Label Rights are a great way to help you succeed without too much effort or work required. There are some very important things you need to remember though...

There are many ways to build content sites, the web offers a good amount of tools and
software that enable you to quickly and easily create keyword rich content site. With the growing popularity of Private Label Rights (PLR) membership sites, webmaster and internet marketers alike, are finding these PLR sites a valuable tool to boost their growth of their business in 2006.

The fundamental idea of the internet is to provide content to its users. Thus, PLR sites that provide quality royalty free, and copyright free content can drastically fill the void for website owners who need quality content but are too busy running their own business online.

In this article, we will review the various ways to easily customize PLR content in order to have unique content to use and build with your own content sites.

For those who are fairly new to the game of internet marketing this is intended for you to help sort out from easy to difficult in terms of using PLR content. Those who are more advanced may find some parts of this article a review. But it’s a good overall review for anyone looking for use PLR content in their online
marketing and presence.

Here are a couple of ways to make your PLR content unique:
(1- 5 scale | Easy to Difficult)

- Use synonym finder in word and find and replace -1
- Use Rewriter Software - 2
- Write an Introduction and conclusion - 3
- Reorder some paragraphs or sentences - 3
- Cut down and summarize the article - 2
- Manually rewrite the whole article - (2 to 4) depending on % of rewrite
- Start a fresh article without PLR content - 5

SYNONYM - If you’ve used Word before, this synonym finder is a great tool to edit and
change words around, without losing the meaning of your sentences. This is very easy to do, just highlight the work you wish to replace and select synonym. Word will give you a list of alternative words. Just choose the best one that fits in your PLR content. Then find and replace that word(s) to customize your content.

SOFTWARE - There are many software titles to choose from in terms of taking PLR content and have a machine regenerate the text with alternative words and keyword phrase. Most will create new articles for you based on the "SYNONYM" method, they regenerate the PLR content with only a few clicks.

ARTICLE WRAPPING - Article wrapping is the method of injecting an introduction and
conclusion to another article. Although it’s merely, adjusting total keyword and keyword density, some have found it useful in terms or quickly and easily adding some customization to content. In addition, you can also add some text in the middle of the article to add more content of your own.

Personally, we find it more effective if your introduction and conclusion are more specific to the article content and NOT some generic useless fluff.

SHUFFLING - Shuffling is a great way to emphasize and give new meaning to PLR content.

The basic idea is to reorder your content or paragraphs to emphasize and refocus your
content from a different angle. For example, this article could have be approached as

"The Lazy Way to Solve Writers Block", and written it in terms of editing the PLR content to make it your own without stumbling trying to write your first sentence.
Here, we could have just taken 3 out of the 6 ways to customize PLR content to tighten up the article.

By the way, if you ever need help with overcoming writer's block, then I have a special gift for you today.

Head over to http://www.ezinementors.com/dl/5simplewaystogetideas.pdf right now and you can have this Special Report at no cost - my gift to you. Best of all you can rebrand it with your name and website address, as well as quite a few affiliate links and it comes with Master Resell/Giveaway Rights, so you can use it to add another income stream to your business, or just rebrand it and give it away at no charge, using it to grow your list even bigger. It's my gift to you at http://www.ezinementors.com/dl/5simplewaystogetideas.pdf.

CUTTING THE FAT - Without getting into too many details, you can basically boil down any content into a shortened version. Have you ever read an article and say, "Geez, get to the point?" Well, cutting down paragraph and summarizing content can easily make your content unique. Just as there are million ways to skin a cat? ( bad example), cutting and editing down content is a method that works great. But back to the point, you can just boil your content into smaller segment without bloating the total word count and increasing keyword density.

REWRITING - This method is an obvious choice, but not the first choice for many since it can lead to fear and frustration to get started without a baseline. The good thing is that pre-written PLR content, provides a backbone to your rewrite, which you would other wise have to research and find on your own. With PLR content, you can simple read, absorb and well rewrite it with your own ideas flowing from the content you just read. Plus, you can add and inject your own personality to your content and you can basically do what you like with the PLR content, since you own the rights to it.

NEW - By far, depending on your own knowledge, can be quite daunting. This perhaps can be the most time consuming, but can yield the most unique content since you are basically starting from the ground up. However, as your own knowledge and comfort level increases by utilizing any of the methods above, you will find it rewarding to know that its not as troublesome as you may think. Being confident in your own voice will not only enable you to customize your PLR content with ease, but perhaps find yourself an expert in that particular niche.

Remember, the great thing about PLR content, is that you can use it over and over and
over again - with a little care, you can starting expanding you online business with an army of content rich sites. It just takes some action. So start today and try out some of the methods laid out to get you started on building your own unique content to use in your online business.
